TERMS: Adopter agrees to maintain proper care of this dog, and to provide adequate food, water, shelter, exercise grooming, training and veterinary care. As dogs are social animals, "proper care" will include adequate companionship and whatever training is necessary to allow the dog to come indoors. The dog will not be kept outside the majority of the time, tied, chained, or continually isolated. The dog will not be transported loose in the back of a pick-up truck. Adopter will also provide an ID tag and never permit the dog to roam unattended off his/her property. The dog will be on leash when outside the boundaries of the owner's property. The dog will not be used as an attack dog or used in any aspect of dog or animal fighting. This dog will not be used as a laboratory/experimental animal. The dog will be placed on a heart worm preventative and on an inoculation program as prescribed by a licensed veterinarian. If not already altered, the pet will be spayed or neutered at the age of six months or within one month of the adoption. Written evidence of surgery will be presented to LSAC of Houston within one week of surgery. In order to prevent this dog from being transferred to a series of owners, and placed beyond the ability of LSAC Houston Rescue to intervene if the dog needs future help to prevent further neglect and/or abuse, the Adopter may not transfer ownership or possession of this dog to anyone without first allowing LSAC Houston Rescue either to reclaim the dog or to give permission for the ownership change. The adopter agrees to notify LSAC Houston Rescue of any change of address or phone number prior to the move or change. Failure of the adopter to abide by the terms of this contract gives LSAC Houston Rescue the legal right to repossess this dog, at the adopter's expense. Adopter understands that the adoption fee of $150 is not refundable except as stated here. The adopter understands that LSACof Houston Rescue tries to provide a satisfactory pet but makes no guarantees as to the health, temperament, or behavior of this dog. Adopter accepts ownership of this dog at his own risk, and releases LSAC of Houston Rescue and its representatives of any liability.
