SUCCESSFULLY PLACED AKITAS

Ashford

Ashfofd's is settling in with his new family.  We're sure that they'll love him as much as everyone else who knows him does.  He's a delightful dog, and he's found some delightful people to be with from now on.  Not like the ones that tied him to the door of the Ashford Veterinary Clnic one night and left him to an uncertain fate.

He's one of the lucky ones, because not every veterinary practice can afford to be so generous with their care and time. Becaue they treated him for heartworms, they kept him for over a month.  During that time, they also vaccinated and neutered him.  Angels were looking out for Ashford!

Boy is another very lucky dog.  As a Houston-based rescue, we can rarely pull dogs from other city shelters.  Sara already had one rescue Akita, so she offered to help us out because she thought he was worth saving.  At first, Raku didn't wasn't wild about this interloper, but eventually, even she fell victim to his charms.

A lot of people asked out him, but in the end, Sara just couldn't say goodbye, so he's staying with her.  Unfortunately, boy is only one of many Akitas looking for a home.

Ginger has been fostered by Lola since July, 2004. Ginger is very attached to Lola and has flourished in her new home. She is a sweet dog and always seems to have a smile on her face.
Nikki was adopted by her foster care family. Once they met her, cared for her, they just couldn't part with her. She's a lucky girl.
Wes was recently adopted into a loving home in the Katy area. He now has a female German Shepherd buddy to hang out. We are appreciative of Jan, the good samaritan, that took Wes into his home and cared for him until a forever home was located. Adopted in July 2004.
Bonnie & Marshall were adopted into the same home in July, 2004, with a loving family in New York. Vince and Kristen showed their love of animals and their enthusiasm for akitas by coming all the way to Texas in a Mini-van to adopt these two special akitas. We were initially pretty adamant about not placing our rescues so far out of state, but Vince and Kristen wore us down and convinced us it would be the right thing to do. Bonnie and Marshll felt right at home with them which ultimately cinched the deal. We expect both of them will be very happy in their new forever home. We would also like to thank April for being a Rescue Angel who assisted in the adoption.
Clyde - This handsome dog was adopted into a home in the San Antonio area by Chris and his daughter. Clyde bonded with them immediately and we expect them to be very happy together. Thanks to Chris, Nicole and Britney for traveling all this way at Christmas to pick him up! (Adopted December, 2004)
Sampson - is an incredible dog and was recently adopted by his foster parents, Kemberly and Steve. They have very lovingly cared for him through very intensive heart worm treatment and just could not let him go. We are very pleased that Kemberly and Steve have opened their hearts and their home to Sampson and given their female Abby, a best friend. Many thanks to them for fostering him for us and eventually adopting him. He is a very lucky boy.
Harry was placed in a wonderful home where he will be the sole focus of attention. Casey, the new owner, sought out Harry specifically and we consider this adoption to be a match made in heaven. Thanks Casey for providing Harry his much needed, loving, forever home.
Bear/Frankie went to a family with no other pets and no kids. He will be living in Temple.

Clancy & Panda (his female littermate) have both been adopted (3/24/03). Clancy went to a home in Dallas and Panda was adopted by a woman in Houston. We are happy that Twyla's Friends was able to adopt these two adorable puppies to loving forever homes so soon.
Shadow was placed in a wonderful, loving home in Harlingen, Texas. Wendy waited a whole month to get Shadow while she closed on her new home. She welcomed Shadow into her new home (in which he made himself right at home) and into her heart. We expect Shadow to be very happy in his forever home.

Don't forget to watch Shadow's cable debut on the Animal Planet's, The Pet Psychic program airing in either April or May of 2003. Check back soon to get the air date. (Click here to see a few photos from when we first got Shadow and click here to read Shadow's story.).
Buffy was adopted on 8/5/02 by a fabulous family from Louisiana. They traveled over 8 hours to meet her and bring her home and Buffy did not disappoint. She is a wonderful akita with an excellent temperment and she made fast friends with her new adopted family. We expect Buffy to blossom in her new forever home and we expect updated pictures soon! This picture here does not do her justice.

Stryder was adopted almost two years ago by the Insall family after a couple on the Northwest side of Houston rescued him from an automotive yard where he was chained to his dog house. We just recently (8/2002) received this updated picture and are pleased to see that he is doing magnificently well.

He had heartworms when Chad (owner) went to look at him which have been treated and to date has no problems. He's weighing in right at 105 pounds solid. Stryder now has a new best friend and her name is Storm. She went to live with him 2 weeks ago and according to Chad, Stryder is no longer "lonely".

AJ was adopted on July 4, 2002 by a family in the Austin area. AJ's new family has owned akitas before and are very knowledgeable. They spotted AJ on the Lone Star Akita Club website and couldn't resist him. We expect AJ and his family to be very happy together.

Dixie Bell was adopted by a wonderful family in College Station.  Wendy and her daughters fell in love with Dixie while they were fostering her and decided they couldn't give her up.   She also made a wonderful companion to Zen, their male akita.  Dixie is flourishing in her new home and has also become quite attached to her new family.
Jack has also been adopted.
Lady was adopted by a loving family in the Woodlands.  Bob and Lea Ann Jordan have previously owned akitas and know quite a bit about them.  Lady should enjoy this loving family, their male Husky Shadow along with that big beautiful yard.
Susie has been adopted by a family in Oklahoma.  Although Suie experienced a little difficulty in the transition period, we understand that she has adjusted well to her new forever home.
Bear was adopted by a wonderful woman in the Srping Branch area of Houston.  Wendy Langford visited Bear often before making the decision to open her heart and her home to this wonderful akita.  We expect Bear to do well in his forever home.
Kenai was adopted in June, 2001 by a loving couple who owned another akita rescue.  Kenai and his adopted family are very happy.
Shawnee was successfully place the weekend of 3/10/01 with a family in College Station.  We understand that Shawnee is settling very well and wish her and her new family many wonderful years together.
Willie shown here at the LSAC Rescue Day at Petco.  Willie and three of his puppies were dropped off at an animal shelter in October, of 1999.  All three puppies were placed quickly, but it took a little while to place Willie.  Mary and Craig MacNeil did a wonderful job caring for Willie while he awaited his permanent home. He has been placed with a very loving family.
Keanu was fostered by J. Abernathy.  Another good Samaritan who took in this dog after her 71 year old, second owner had to move into a trailer park that doesn't allow dogs.  He got the dog from a young man who kept a plane at the West Houston Airport.  Keanu was adopted by a family this past summer and is very happy.
Angel - Although Angel was not placed by LSAC he was adopted by one of our members, Judy Bernsen.  Judy already owned Mikki, a 1 year old bitch, so Angel completes their family quite nicely.   Angel was one of three puppies rescued in Dallas by Katherine Weller.  He is shown here with his bestest buddy Mikki.

Lady the dog who showed up loose on Christmas Eve, is in her new home and just got spayed.  She's a fabulous dog and they are very happy with her.
The three puppies out of Willie are all doing well in their placements.  One of which is Misty pictured here with her new owner John. Both of them are very happy.
This is Miko, one of Willie's puppies.  She is also a sister to Misty. Kevin Somers and his wife adopted "Katy", renamed her Miko and say she has the most wonderful disposition.  She is shown here with her Christmas toy.
Kori formerly known as Winter was adopted into an out-of-state home in December, 2000.
